Lyrics are the written words in a song. Lyrics are usually written during or after the underlying music is composed. However, it is possible that music is added after the lyrics is written.

Chinese lyrics 詞 are Chinese poems written in a way that the pattern of the tones of the characters should be the same as a lyrics of a song.
