She supposedly asked her ISP to create this newsgroup in honor of her username: "Registered Owner MAT(t)Thews." Elaine's strongly expressed views on alternate lifestyles and behaviors won her a group of detractors calling themselves the Romathians, who eventually took over alt.romath.
